Looking for a sweet treat that actually supports your fat loss goals? These healthy banana chocolate chip muffins are packed with fiber, protein, and healthy fats—with just enough carbs to give you stable energy without the crash.
This recipe is a new and improved version of the original banana chocolate chip muffins I posted here (which had eggs!). After making them every single week for over a year and tweaking the ingredients slightly, I can honestly say, this is the best version yet.
They’re rich, satisfying, nutrient-dense, and the perfect treat if you’re working on body composition, blood sugar balance, or just trying to eat smarter without feeling deprived.
Why These Muffins Are Actually Healthy
Let’s be honest, most store-bought muffins marketed as “healthy” are loaded with sugar, refined flour, and very little fiber or protein. That combo spikes your blood sugar, crashes your energy, and leaves you hungrier than before leading you to overeating calories, a bad idea if you are on a body re-composition journey (losing fat and building muscle).
These muffins are different. Each one contains:
✅ 14g protein – to keep you full and support lean muscle
✅ 12g fiber – to slow digestion and support blood sugar stability
✅ 200 calories – perfect for a post-meal treat, or two for a meal replacement, since I don’t condone snacking
✅ 8g healthy fats – for hormones, energy, and satiety
✅ <15g carbs – from bananas and fiber-rich ingredients
They’re also egg-free and easily dairy-free if you sub the Greek yogurt for pumpkin puree!
How These Muffins Fit Your Fat Loss Goals
If you’re on a fat loss journey, you already know:
You need a calorie deficit to lose fat.
But here’s the key: the quality of your calories matters just as much as the quantity.
When your meals and treats are high in protein and fiber (like these muffins), you stay fuller longer, experience fewer cravings, and are far less likely to overeat later in the day. That’s what makes sustainable fat loss actually possible.
No more sugar crashes. No more snacking all day. No more starting over every Monday. Eating in a calorie deficit has never been easier with my tips!
And once you’ve lost the fat? You move into maintenance, where you can keep enjoying satisfying treats like this without stressing over every bite. That’s what I teach my clients inside my 12-week coaching program: fat loss doesn’t have to be miserable. I teach my clients how to eat delicious meals while eating more and still lose fat. 💛 The New & Improved Muffin Recipe
Healthy Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
(makes ~14 muffins)
My favorite MOLD (I have two)
Dry Ingredients:
- 5 scoops FlavCity Vanilla Protein Powder
- ¾ cup PB2 Cashew Powder
- ¾ cup Blanched Almond Flour
- ¾ cup Psyllium Husk Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Powder (aluminum-free)
- a pinch of sea salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 4 large (or 5 small) ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (or plain no-sugar pumpkin purée for dairy-free)
🎃 Use 1 cup of pumpkin purée to replace 1 cup of Greek yogurt, but expect a slightly denser, less creamy result since pumpkin has less protein and moisture-binding ability than yogurt.
👩🍳 Pro tip:
- If the batter feels too thick or dry after mixing, you can add 1–2 tablespoons of water or almond milk to loosen it slightly.
- You could also add a pinch more baking powder to keep the muffins fluffy.
Add-ins:
- ½ cup Hu Kitchen chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C)
- In one bowl, mix all dry ingredients
- In another bowl, mash bananas and mix with Greek yogurt (or pumpkin puree)
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until you get a thick, doughy batter. Add water if needed
- Fold in chocolate chips
- Spoon into muffin molds
- Bake 18–20 minutes for a soft, doughy texture or up to 25 minutes for a firmer muffin
- Let them cool & enjoy!
Store in the fridge for up to 7 days. You can also make more and freeze them up!
Nutrition Per Muffin (approximate):
- 200 calories
- 14g protein
- 12g fiber
